FreeSWITCH does ZRTP
Michael Collins began working more closely with the FreeSWITCH development team in December 2008 but he's been involved in the community for quite a while. He shares with us, what is ZRTP and more? Brian West completed the add of this feature in one day with some input from Tony, says Michael.
Basically, the encryption happens on the media stream (RTP), including the 'key exchange,' as opposed to the signaling (RTP) It keeps anyone from hearing the call's audio or recording it. Any soft phone like Xlite or zphone should work find with ZRTP on FreeSWITCH.
Device manufacturers and producers (hard phones and hard phone adapters) are invited to discuss adding the ZRTP. Take part in the excitement brewing with the FreeSWITCH and open source developer community at the Wyndham Chicago Hotel Aug 4-6, 2009 at Cluecon. Sign up at http://www.cluecon.com.
